We live on a farm and have 8 cats. I've used Hartz Ultra Guard Reflecting Flea & Tick Collars on our cats for many years. They work well for the heavily wooded area we live in and zero of my cats have ever had any kind of bad reaction to the collars. And they are reasonably priced and last 7 months through the whole flea and tick season.

This is a response to the previous review. One ignorant review should not tarnish a good product. IF YOUR HOME IS ALREADY INFESTED WITH FLEAS YOU CANNOT BUY A COLLAR AND EXPECT THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY!! No matter how many fleas on the animal die, fresh ones will keep jumping on. Overcoming an infestation takes much effort and many steps. You have to wash bedding daily. Vacuum daily. Use foggers correctly. Use sprays or powder on the animal (not both!)
Anyway, this is the only collar I buy. It is important to buy a collar that also kills flea EGGS. This attacks the fleas at multiple stages of the life cycle. This Hartz collar is as good as ANY you will find. Do not buy a collar at the dollar store. They do not work.

Several animal pros say these things don't work but I have used them for years and they do work for me. I think the other products (drops between the shoulder blades) are alot more expensive and makes more money for people involved... My cat had a really bad reaction to that product and I don't trust it where as we have never had a flea problem with these collars and my animals tolerate them well. I will use them as long as they are available...

I purchased two of these collars for my 2 cats. My boys haven't had any adverse reactions to this collar. They have had their collars on for about 2 months. Now my one cat did get outside without his collar( it was after a bath on memorial day weekend) He did come home with a few fleas. I quickly bathed him and slapped his collar back on him so hopefully that will take care of any lingering fleas and eggs. All in all a good collar.

After almost a month, it'd appear that the cat still has fleas, though we keep finding dead ones on the cat, she also has scabby skin from scratching and biting herself.
the 3-in-1 seems to be much more effective in discouraging the fleas and keeping them off the animals than the collar does even though the collar will eventually kill the buggers.
